Trouble & Bass are the undisputed kings of, well, you guessed it; Bass. On May 31st the label released a huge record with must-have remixes. What record? Poland’s bass duo, SUPRA1.
Their EP is called Still Believe and has two original tracks, the title track featuring vocal work from diva-esque Amy Douglas. That same track is accompanied by remixes from the who’s who of underground dance music right now: Brackles, Gucci Vump, L-Vis 1990, Franki Chan, The Phantom, and Boogaloo Crew.
Check the L-Vis 1990 remix as a sample and cop the whole thing at Beatport now.
It was 9am and I was just boarding the train. I had been out all night DJing at an after-party and my ears were ringing but I needed to keep myself awake in order to catch my stop. My iPod, like always, was on shuffle. Scuba‘s track “So You Think You’re Special” crept on and filled my ears. It’s quite a frightening track off of his recently released full-length Triangulation.
Much like the other 11 songs on the record, “So You Think You’re Special” is eerie and dark. Some of them bang and some are just perfect for headphones. It’s dubstep but it’s not mosh pit wobble bass, it’s deeper, more haunting, and more textured. If you’re inclined, you can pick the whole thing up at Juno Records or get more info at his record label, Hot Flush.
Music For Dreams is at it again, this time with some heat from Kenneth Bager’s camp. The Revenge hit it hard with a spacey, disco rendition of “Fragment One”, while Jayou takes a surprisingly up-beat dubstep route. I’d also like to remind you of Alex Metric’s “I Can’t Wait” remix that we posted a while back, he absolutely murdered it and it deserves second (or more) listen.
I’m a huge fan of The Prodigy, a relatively new fan of Dubstep, and considering that Frail Limb Purity just successfully molded the two together; I’m now a fan of him as well. Bring the ruckus.

Damn, Jammer calls out just about every one in his new “Better Than” track. Catch the original up top, an INSANE remix by The Prototypes down below and cop the single via Big Dada on March 15th (full album, Jahmanji, is due out June 14th.)
Now that 2009 is officially over and done, we can get excited about all the new music producers stepping up to the plate to make 2010 start off with a bang. Much like Bok Bok and L-vis 1990 in 2009, you couldn’t escape hearing the buzz about these two. Aside from producing and DJing, the two also started a pretty rowdy party called Night Slugs, which has now evolved into a label.
The first release on the Nightslugs record label is from Mosca. If you’re a geek like Beats or I, than you’ve probably heard Mosca through Kingdom, Bok Bok, or Dubbel Dutch on one of their ustream sets. If you’re unfamiliar with Mosca, then this EP will be a great introduction, as he’s everything you’d hope for in a producer. Blending quirky deep techno sounds with world house vibes and tons of bass. This is “grown ‘n sexy” club music far removed from the annoying screechy sounds of blog house, but with the same inventive energy. Not only are the original tracks fantastic but the Nightslugs sprung for some heavy duty remixers like Roska, Greena and Julio Bashmore.
The EP will be released to every digital music retailer (iTunes, Juno, Beatport, Boomkat, etc.) as well as have a very limited number of vinyl copies pressed. Keep an eye out for Night Slugs releases through-out the year because they plan on releasing EPs for Kingdom, Greena, Jam City, Girl Unit and Egyptrixx.

I think by now we can all safely agree that Jakwob can turn anything into gold. I’m not saying the club version of “Jump The Gun” by X & Hell is bad, I’m just saying that Jakwob’s got “The Midas Touch.” His remix was in a promo pack for XnH’s newly revived “Jump The Gun” single release. Their debut album, Million Dollar Sex Party, is over a year old so I’m thinking this might be a promo for their next album? I’m not actually sure, but in any case, enjoy Jakwob’s remix.
I don’t even know what’s going on in this track. It starts out like a 90’s piano house cheese anthem and then it drops into straight up mosh pit dubstep. It’s from Dub Police records artist Doctor P and I am pretty sure this is the most ridiculous track I have heard in a while. No word when this will be released but keep yourself updated by visiting his myspace.
