If you’re looking for some party jams for this weekend, look no further, as Homework‘s new Fissa Tune EP has got you covered. “Fissa Tune” sports an addictive, flute-like instrument wailing about; maybe a clarinet, maybe an oboe, maybe something crazy that I don’t even know about. In any case, every track on this release has a catchy element to it and I recommend giving it a once over. Check it out via Exploited Records on Beatport now.
Attention, the following piece of music may cause serious flashbacks or bring up blocked out childhood memories – but be warned: the melancholy does not even last one minute, being levelled to the ground by electronic battle weapons such as sidechain, distortion and high-pass filters. What starts out as an innocent remix of a rock classic gets out of control soon and turns out to be a massive killer track – hell yeah.
On Monday mornings/afternoons/evenings, depending on where you’re located, we all need something pleasant to look forward to, I think. Personally, I’m not only looking forward to getting better soon (Aspirine, Parkemed, Klacid – welcome back, my dearest friends) but especially to giving Etienne de Crecy’s latest Binary EP a listen later today, after watching the teaser video over and over again. Also:
I know from first hand experience that Ghetto Division have been tearing up Chicago for a while now. I remember they held a house party at their studio loft a few years back and it was amazing… Until the cops showed up (which was a usual occurance at all of our parties.)
Anyway, I was just looking over this Do312 Lollapalooza Remix Contest and noticed that Ghetto Division was basically owning the leader board. The first round of voting is over and it looks like all of the GD members have made it into the semifinals. Check out the tunes that made that possible and wish them good luck when you see them. Goodluck, gents.
Hey, my name’s Jonny, I produce/DJ in the group know as Real Talk, we are from Toronto, ON Canada. Over the past weekend the G20 was held here in the heart of the downtown core of our city against all our rights, and our prime minister Stephen Harper spent 1.2 billion dollars of our tax money on it. Me along with alot of my friend went to peacefully protest this because we are completely against it. I was arrested, beaten, and thrown into a detainment facility that had the capacity of 15 – and 80 of us were forced instead, strip searched and beaten again just for walking the streets in my city that I paid for. Me and my producing/DJ partner Mark remixed a song with an actual clip from people protesting. It would mean the world to me if you could blog it.
How do real party promoters spend their time when they’re taking a break from throwing the hottest parties in town? They’re either putting together mixtapes that make the earth shake at 130bpm, or remixing Austria’s currently most demanded hip-hop act – or both simultaneously.
This No Static at All EP, released in conjunction with ATL web DJ Rob Wonder, is a hint that someone at Scion has impeccable taste in music. The release is packed with forward-thinking bass, heavy club tunes and represents a lot of what Rob Wonder plays on his radio show.
As Wonder says, “This collection of sounds was put together to move minds, hearts and feet.” Coinciding with this musical release, there is also a booklet (available both in print and digitally) about No Static At All that features tweaked creature illustrations by Atlanta art legend R. Land.
If you want to keep up with Rob’s adventures, follow @robwonder on Twitter and check out his radio show with new episodes every first Thursday of the month at robwonderradio.com.
Of course I could start raving about how this EP kills me (and is going to kill dancefloors all over the world from July 5 onwards), but let’s just cut that crap and say that Mixhell, Les Petits Pilous, Don Rimini and VNNR all simply puked out some remixes for The Subs‘ latest EP Vomit In Style. In order to get an idea of what I’m talking about you can not only stream the entire release on SoundCloud but also exclusively download a dub mix of Bang Bang Bang here:
I’m sure you’ve heard of Florrie, the babe-status musician out of London who hopped on the blog scene earlier this year. If not… She’s a babe-status musician out of London… Joking, but seriously, Florrie is the new face of cheeky, pop-house and is absolutely perfect for Summer, especially her remixes. Her new single “Call 911″ is the lead track off of Kitsune’s forthcoming Kitsune X Ponystep compilation, an “ultra-cool album that fuses pop, electro, indie, disco and more” (well put, James!) While you’re waiting for that goodness to drop, check out these remixes by Beataucue and Fred Falke.
Beataucue turned the original into a dance-floor heater and Fred Falke applied his usual dreamy-disco touch. Catch the other remixes by Bart B More and His Majesty Andre come July 19th.
My favourite frenchies The Teenagers just released a brand new song, along with an incredibly clever marketing concept: Made Of, their first release since the band’s 2008 debut album, can be downloaded for free – all you have to do is to “pay with a tweet”. As I don’t want to spoil the fun, you can only preview the song here – in order to get the free download you need to pay with a tweet.
Melé is a 17 year old prodigy beatmaker from the UK who’s talent exceeds his age by many, many years. Mastering the balance of vocal chants and unearthly sub-bass, each of his tracks encompasses the essentials of a heater. A great example of this is the French Fries remix of his track “Bombay” (available now from Mixpak records), a track I featured in my Mini Mix v2. He’s already been scooped up by Sinden for an upcoming release on Grizzly, but he sent us a few bits to hold you over until then.
All tracks posted are for promotional use only. If you enjoy the music you find here, please go and buy it. If you like, you could also send a basket of fruit to the artist in question.
