Domino

I’m in a bit of a hurry, so let me just quote the official text release: Dim Mak is pleased to announce the latest incarnation of The Bloody Beetroots. Beginning today they are releasing the dark and destructive musical, cinematic and photographic opus “DOMINO”. (watch the video after the jump)

The name “DOMINO” comes from a typical Venetian Carnival costume, a robe with a black hood and a white mask. The title was chosen title to introduce the first BBDC77 anarco-musical army. The video – like Xmas Vendetta – underscores the contents of their latest critically acclaimed release “ROMBORAMA”.

Hiya, got something quite unuasal today: A remix taken from Bart B More’s upcoming release Romane, an insane gypsy-style track. The release comes with sick remixes by Para One, Gucci Vump, French Fries & Bambounou and up and coming Dutch producer Rubix. Here’s an exclusive 128kbps preview of his remix for you to check out – don’t sleep on this, this is one of the freshest tracks I’ve heard lately:

Popular Music

Remember how I was raving about Felix Cartal’s latest track Popular Music, taken from the upcoming, self-titled album? As if the original wasn’t banging enough, Paul D decided to have his on take on Popular Music, taking it to an even higher level of awesome-ness. To quote Felix himself: “I never liked music until I heard my own.”

Gravity in Terms of Space-Time

I saw this video of Starscream’s 2009 BLIP performance on Vice’s Motherboard and figured I’d share it here. Jean Y. Kim, a 21-year-old studio art student at NYU, uses a Gameboy to produce some “mind blowing” visuals while the band throws down a fit of 8-bit glory.

On & On

Julio Bashmore is one classy dude. Somehow the kid churns out tunes that are the perfect bridge between the UK’s current scene and Dirtybird’s signature, Tech-House style. In short, he’s pretty much a dream come true for us at Hot Bizzies. Another dream come true is his elegantly bass-heavy remix of Delphic’s “Halcyon”, which perfectly demonstrates his genius and flexibility.

This tune is so versatile that you could hear it rinsed to the masses at a Claude VonStroke show or on a much smaller, more intimate level with Bok Bok in one of his ustream sessions. Yes, the vocals are missing, but there are other remixers from this release who utilize them quite well; L-Vis 1990 and Deadboy are a couple of them. Also, if you’re not familiar with Delphic, their new release, Acolyte, is available on iTunes (UK only) and comes with a bonus track and videos. Get on it.

Little Boots

Having remixed La Roux, Chromeo and Amanda Blank in 2009, German disco wizzards GRVRBBRS now celebrate their glorious return by putting their unique remix fingerprints all over Little Boots’ amazing Tune Into My Heart. Featuring Little Boots’ incredibly beautiful voice, backed by solid disco beats and Daft Punk-esque filtered lead synths, this remix is a real disco gem. Keep an eye on these guys, they might be one of 2010’s big discoveries.

Disconnected

Well of course the new Anoraak is really good. The chillacious remix of Shy Child’s “Disconnected” feels like the perfect music to just space out to at the end of a 12 hour work day (it’s been a rough month.) On an unrelated note, writing about Anoraak right now just made me think of when I got the opportunity to play with him and College when they were here in Chicago. They were two of the nicest guys ever. Thanks for that gig, Black Holes.

And So I Watch You From Afar

Découverte, Musique Par: Beats™ No Comments »

Ireland is basically crushing it this year. First, Two Door Cinema Club take over my iPod and now And So I Watch You From Afar delightfully show up in my inbox. The best way to describe ASIWYFA’s sound is to say that they’re basically next door neighbors to Explosions In the Sky and right down the block from M83… If we were relating them by means of residential metaphors, that is.

Anyway, you can catch these guys in Toronto, New York, a few spots at SXSW and all over in the UK (see their Myspace for full listing.) If you’re unable to attend any of the tour, check out “The Voiceless”, a really solid number off of their self-titled, debut album from last year. Actually, check that tune out either way, I’m pretty sure you’ll love it.

And So I Watch You From Afar do America (and some Canada):
March 11th – The Hide Out , Queens St , Toronto ( part of CMW)
March 13th – Mercury Lounge , Manhattan
March 17th – Friends Bar , 6th St SXSW
March 21nd – Good Bye SXSW party

Riverside, Chuckie!

News of the day: Chuckie remixing Sidney Samson – always nice to see (hear) big names remixing big names. That certain remix took some time to grow on me, to be honest, I was actually quite disappointed when I first checked out the promo that came in earlier today. However, if you listen to it on good headphones or huge soundsystems, you will definitely appreciate Chuckie’s special remix treatment: This remix is huge, and it’s out of control. Can’t wait to spin this.

Les Gillettes

Les Gillettes is a fresh new Finnish act signed to Huoratron’s New Judas label. They debuted their first release at the end of 2009 titled “Pompeii.” It featured remixes from Obi Blanche and Mikix the Cat. We were all familiar with the Obi Blanche from the support it got from big name djs like Erol Alkan. Les Gillettes is back with a reissue of “Pompeii” on French label Kitsune. This new release features fresh remixes from Boy 8 Bit, Jokers of the Scene, and The Aston Shuffle. I must say all these new remixes are great. Enjoy!
