It’s been quite a while since I’ve heard anything new from Cut Copy, but if I do say, a remix of The Juan Maclean’s “Happy House” is a hell of a way to jump back into things. Hopefully the reason for their hiatus is that they’ve been busy in the studio working on a new album, God knows we’re all waiting for it.
I don’t think I’ve even heard a remix by Grizzly Bear before, but their take on “Boneless” basically sounds the way I’d expect and hope for it to sound. I have to say I’m partial to Panda Bear when it comes to “Boneless” remixes, but this one is definitely worth checking out.
I was just browsing through my iTunes library, looking for a decent remix of Zombie Nation’ Kernkraft 400 to play next weekend, when I came across a remix that I had no idea it even existed:
Just stumbled upon a video based on Caspa’s dubstep remix of TC’s Where’s My Money, re-worked by DJ Parker – just see for yourselves, it’s funny as hell.
I mainly wanted to call attention to this great Juan MacLean remix of “A New Chance”, but it also doesn’t hurt to have El Guincho and jj contributions on this newly available (yet apparently from 2008) Tough Alliance remix EP. Listen to the Juan MacLean remix in the obviously unofficial video above and get the track here.

Everyone knows Washed Out, and “Feel It All Around” may be my favorite song this year, but I wanted to put up a post about fellow South Carolinian Toro Y Moi. “Talamak” is from his upcoming Causers of This (due February 23rd), and the tracks I’ve heard from this record are sounding great. I imagine he will be getting some more love in 2010.
I love discovering new music from all over the world, it’s almost like travelling to other countries. Today I stumbled upon experimental electro-pop from Copenhagen, Denmark: Dato are two guys that have been cooperating for more than two years, “insisting on songs, shaped up in electronics“, as they describe themselves. Their latest track, featuring vocals from Danny Anderson, is an amazing disco-esque song you won’t get out of your head. Watch out for more music from these guys, they just finished mastering a whole album.
“Think Spielberg’s Duel + Russ Meyer’s Faster Pussycat Kill Kill! + Marc Dorcel’s wildest fantasies all warped into an 8-bit Sega era style graphic.” – This is how the attached press text drew my attention to Truckers Delight, the latest EP by Parisian producer Flairs. The official video that comes with it is the weirdest but funniest music video I’ve seen in quite some time. In fact, the video features cartoon imaginery some might find objectionable, if you think you may be offended, please switch off now (to quote Pete Tong). Third Side Records sent out an Alex Gopher remix of the single to give away, so here you are, kiddos:
I love Vitalic. His latest album is one of the best out at the moment (even though I think OK Cowboy was even better than Flashmob). I love Vitalic being remixed by skilled and talented artists, just like Captain Flash. It takes a hell of a producer to remix Vitalic, I guess, as there’s not much space left for improvement. This is one of the best remixes I’ve ever heard – seriously.
I touched based with a demo of Monarchy over here, but there are a couple of new remixes that need to be shared. Their breakout single, “Gold In The Fire”, got quite a bit of attention as a demo/ original mix and the following string of remixes are just as impressive thus far. Diamond Cut made the track a bit for club-ready by adding an up-beat swing to it while Def Starr went in a completely different direction, turning it into a kind of electronic jam session.
All tracks posted are for promotional use only. If you enjoy the music you find here, please go and buy it. If you like, you could also send a basket of fruit to the artist in question.
